Fire System

Services/Products

ISK offers a range of fire protection solutions. Below is a summary of each service/product:

Sprinkler Systems

  • Description: Effective and reliable fire protection for industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Recognized by authorities and insurance companies for asset and life protection.
  • Features:
    • Long-term solution (30-50 years operational life).
    • Uses 1ალ – 1/100th the water of fire brigade response, reducing water damage.
    • Activates at fire outbreak to prevent spread.
  • How It Works:
    • Pressurized water in pipework.
    • Sprinkler head with glass bulb/solder fuse breaks at 68°C, releasing water onto a diffuser.
    • Flow switch activates pump and fire alarm.
  • Types:
    • Wet Sprinkler Systems: Water-filled, immediate response.
    • Alternate Sprinkler Systems: Drained and air-pressurized in winter, water-pressurized in summer for temperature-extreme environments (e.g., unheated warehouses).
  • Maintenance Requirements (Commercial):
    • Valve sets: 6-monthly servicing (overhaul + visual inspection).
    • Pumps: 6-monthly servicing (overhaul + visual inspection).
    • Tanks: Annual ball valve service, re-lined every 10 years.

Suppression Systems

  1. Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
    • Overview: Extinguishes fire by reducing oxygen levels and cooling. Stored as liquid under high pressure, vaporizes rapidly during discharge.
    • Pros: Highly effective, zero ozone depletion, non-conductive, no cleanup required.
    • Cons: Slow discharge, toxic at high concentrations, bulky storage.
    • Benefits: Clean, low-cost, suitable for delicate machinery.
  2. HFC 227-EA (FM-200)
    • Overview: Clean, electrically non-conductive agent that extinguishes fires within 10 seconds by absorbing heat.
    • Pros: Rapid action, safe for occupied areas, zero ozone depletion.
    • Cons: Some global warming potential, higher cost.
    • Benefits: Rapid knockdown, minimal oxygen reduction, no residue.
  3. Novec 1230
    • Overview: Stored as liquid, discharged as gas, extinguishes via heat absorption and chemical interference.
    • Pros: Safe for occupied areas, fast action, environmentally friendly (zero ozone depletion, GWP of 1).
    • Cons: High agent cost.
    • Benefits: Safe, effective, clean, no over-pressurization vents needed.
  4. IG55 (Argonite)
    • Overview: Blend of nitrogen and argon, environmentally neutral, safe for occupied areas.
    • Pros: Zero ozone depletion, no residue, effective in confined spaces.
    • Cons: Slow extinguishing, high storage volume.
    • Benefits: Fast-acting, integrates with detection systems, minimal downtime.
